We grow Anemone from seed and this lasts 3 years; the sown seeds stay in the ground for 2 years. After harvesting the small bulbs we plant them for 1 year and then they are big enough to be sold.
Naturalizing: through spreading of the seed.
Light requirements: full sun or partial shade
Landscape uses: under shrubs, rock gardens, borders, containers and perennial gardens
The large, daisy-like flowers of the modern varieties of Anemone blanda ('blanda' meaning 'beautiful') have a diameter of 4-5 cm. They have yellow flower centres and numerous stamens. Anemones are extremely popular due to their early, massive flowering and their wide availability. Another big advantage is that the little rhizomes naturalise easily. They form a lovely, colourful carpet, especially under woody trees and shrubs which are still bare during the time of the anemones' flowering period. Anemones are actually a must for spots among perennials. (IBC)
